Me, too! As a matter
of fact, some of my work is probably being rejected right now. But alas, those rejection notices
also piled up for these writers:
Kurt Vonnegut, C.S.
Lewis, Anne Frank, Hunter S. Thompson, Sylvia Plath, Gertrude Stein, Louisa May
Alcott, Jack Kerouac, George Orwell and many others.
So get back to work.
That’s what they did. And look what happened.
Write soon,
Mary
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!
Mary--If some of your work is being rejected right now, that means you submitted something, which means you're a winner. Submitting is a hurdle writers have to clear on a regular basis--and you're doing it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday...And stay safe.
Well, I just submitted a query, and it's been a while since I've done that, so you are right, rejection means I've been writing! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, SIoux. (You, too, Sioux rhymes. If I ever write a biography about you, that's what I would call it!)
DeleteMary--I hang around with some writers who--when we get together for dinner at a restaurant--write round-robin limericks. Sioux and St. Lou were often slipped in there somehow when it was my turn to add a line...
DeleteThis is timely. Got a rejection during last week. Good advice. Keep going.
ReplyDeleteIt's not easy, but the best thing to do is keep so many submissions out there that one rejection means you still have four or five more chances to get something published! Now, if only I would follow my own advice! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
DeleteGood luck to you both with your submissions. It's a numbers game, right??!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, rejection is part of the writer's life. I don't take it personally. Just means my work wasn't a good fit...this time!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I take it personally, and sometimes I don't. I wish I could take it personally never!
DeleteVery inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn!
